Styliiista Look Book #2

And here is the rest of my spring/summer 2006 look book collection. :) At this point in my career, I was freelance designing and working strictly with draping versus patterns. Oh how I miss these days. All of my designs are hand sewn and constructed by me. Oh and the model is my *gorgeous* sister! Any thoughts?

this piece above doesn't really fit and I was in the picture with her, but I cropped myself out. lol! The blouse is all lace and has a very vampy feeling to it, if only I had a picture of the back. It's laced up corseted style. ;-)

Styliiista Look Book #1:

So there's been a lot of blog talk from me lately about being a 'designer' and so I decided to take a break from my crazy traveling life and (for old times sake) share some of my past 'design' work with you. This is my Spring/summer 2006 lookbook. Every piece is hand designed, hand sewn, hand stitched and designed by me in inspiration of my sister (who is the model below). This collection, "Soulaje" was created in Fall of 2005. Oh how time flies! I always felt my designs were a bit ahead of they're time. Ya think? Nay or Yay?

Matthew Williamson Pre-Fall 09

Matthew Williamson is one of my favorites. The flagship store is in London, U.K and I muse over it every time I visit and pass through Berkley Square... Williamson is known for his ethereal floor length frocks in graffiti prints and his structural details and stitch work on Williamson's garments. I'm loving the cocoon shapes in some of the jackets and dresses this season. I ♥ the fur additions and the pairing with the high waist bellbottoms. Williamson is a perfect interpretation of dreamy street-style exquisitely beautiful and super antique. ♥ ♥

Goo Goo 4 Gaga?

If any of you are music enthusiasts that have been hearing a lot of buzz about Lady Gaga, wondering what her story is... we may be sharing the same mind. I've explored samples of her frequencies as an artist, and she is quite talented and learned to play the piano by ear at age four. By age 13 she was writing her own songs. She writes all of her own music... and has developed a very big following for herself. I'm feeling the musical category she reps as pop fused with electro pop, and I dig all sounds electronic and eclectic. One thing I appreciate about her as a musician is that she works hard. I give praise to all woman that work *hard* to accomplish things that many of us don't have the determination, confidence, or will to. I am inspired by her look as a whole, I believe image is important. It is the biggest selling point we have. Whether or not she has a stylist, is obsolete because from a fashion perspective, her message is coming through. High fashion makes the world go 'round. Your thoughts?

I have been musing over the patent leather stiletto ballet platforms for quite some time now. Her gloves are so fierce and the accessories are totally on point. She reps these looks well!

Invasion of Style

Topshop London Spring 2009 is a collaboration of pop-influenced retro fashion and oozing with style. Topshop has a way of glorifying pop culture and it's influence on trends around the world. In the many era's of fashion coming and going, and coming right back around again, we all can witness how this movement has become a springboard to our own individual style consciousness. As for Topshop, there's a direction and an intention behind these trend choices. Think of pop culture merged with contemporary individualism. Take for instance, the spaced out platform heels, sportswear & harem pants dressed up with platforms and contemporary pieces like jackets and waist belts. There's an essence of van halen rock chic, inspired by trends of the late 80's and early 90's, acid wash skinnies, cropped trousers with zipper stripes, fringed booties another late 70's early 80's trend, then a trend that's been moving strong for several seasons pay close attention to the disco, and graphic prints, as they come in body conscious asymmetrical sihlouettes, with the return of one of my favorite fabrics: jersey. Jersey worn as sportswear. Think: jane fonda 1980 yet modern in edge. I always ♥ & support Topshop, not only because it's super forward, but because Topshop has something for every style, shape, and almost every body type. As a designer, I know that mastering that technique can be a challenge.

Nicholas Kirkwood keeps many of us fashion purveyors in suspense for what's next to come after the mind blowing A/W 08 collection came in like a cold storm, and blasted us all! So for Spring 2009, we get the same sweet surprise. Kirkwood is a London based innovator with a knack for architectural design, and sex appeal.
