Trend Spot: Proenza Schouler

Proenza Schouler dares to tease us with this Pre-Fall 2009 collection. As we can see, it is all about mixing cropped jackets with glittery golds and pewters, stark colors highlighted with jewel tones and sheer layered garments. The blends of blue, purple, fuchsia, chocolate brown, camel and gold paired with charcoal gray and jet black is a rich preview on what we can expect to see for the A/W 2009 color chart. Exciting! The colors are among my favorites, and Schouler's attention to clean tailoring on the top half of your body, then slightly changing shape to soften the lower half by gentle layers is very brilliant! I see a 2nd trend in the spotlight for Spring 09, (that Proenza Schouler interprets well) which is the 'fold' shape. This example comes in a few skirt styles below. The "fold trend" will carry strong through winter and possibly Spring 2010. Fold shapes on skirts, and dresses, are taking a rather unique approach in enormous ruffles and overlapping layers, aside from the traditional 'pleat shape' example. I am very fond of these looks, ♥ them tremendously and can't wait for fall now!
