Discover: Bao Tranchi ♥

Blessed with the bounty of working with the likeness of LA's own futuristic designer (by way of Vietnam) " BaoTranchi," I pulled some of her unbelievable threads to style a S/S 2010 lookbook for a shoe brand based out of LA. With an opportunity to help expand her brand, and utilize such immensely woven beauty, I got to take a visit inside her loft-showroom, and got a chance to lose myself in her futuristic bliss. She's developed over 300+ pieces which she's handcrafted herself, with such a wide array of influence, some of the themes I can see her collection falling into are:

+ Romantic
+ Futuristic
+ Military
+ 18th Century
+ Ethereal
+ Medieval
+ Sci-fi
+ Gothic
+ Couture

Bao Tranchi is unmistakeably ahead of her time, her pieces as stunningly timeless. Having grown quite successful in her career as an American independent designer, her biography is rather impressive. The still images above are taken from runway show in Vikingaheimmar, Iceland. Bao designed for the TV series "America's Next Top Model" [For "4" consecutive seasons, also handpicked as a guest judge for cycle "7"] Her label was featured prominently on on ANTM's advertising billboards & commercials for "4" back to back cycles. From 1996 - 2010, her label has been in the ANTM spotlight. She's received phenomenal commercial acclamation having designed for the artist Prince, as well as: Janet Jackson, Kelly Clarkson, Courtney Love, Winona Ryder, and Aimee Mann. She's done costume design for films like: "Queen of the Dammed" [2002] and "Journey From The Fall [2004]." I'd say Tranchi's design aesthetic, cusps both originality and fluidity with an air of romanticism, and a futuristic touch. She is far set apart from any designer I've seen on the global fashion runways, which is both amazing and inspiring. ♥ ♥ xx
