This is by far one of the most original editorials I've seen in quite a while. Muse Magazine fuses Japanese Harajuku styling, pop culture & rock and roll in this fashion story "Super Trooper" for fall/winter 2009. Brilliant dark styling. A D O R E ! ♥
Gracing the front cover of ASOS Magazine for issue April 2009 featuring 'Lady Gaga' in her interpretation of wearable art. I ♥ her for her futuristic fashion sense and unique take on style... I watched an interview on Kiss TV (U.K) where she mentioned that her 'look' is art. And it's meant to be powerful. She is inspired by Grace Jones and her essence of exuding geometric style... also David Bowie and Christina Aguilera. All of which Gaga considers her favorite style inspirations. She intends on designing an Avant Garde collection one day. Don't you notice a trend in musicians that become designers?
One of the hands down most treasured experiences of London to date is witnessing the impacting "Swan Lake " Ballet Production. I am inspired on so many levels from the music, to the choreography to the dance. The set design and the costumes were a spectacular point to the entire production... This is what got to witness yesterday at the Royal Opera House in London which is beautiful in itself... Here is one of my favorite scenes.
Vivienne Westwood vs Paris Fashion Week & Westwood leaves *more* than a tailored style stamp for Spring 2009. She murders the runway with her architectural and rock couture pieces! (as always). These were my absolute favorites of the show by FAR. The strap boots... and the sports influences, and the spat ankle cuffs with the socks is so fly! Westwood's choice of accessories were pretty brilliant and set apart on top of everything else. Enjoy!
For those of you that think I was just poppin sh*t regarding the 'fox' see my latest blog: "Dramatic Theatricals" and let me know if you see any similarities. The difference is, I did this first. (Styling/Art Direction) This editorial was shot the 1st week of October 2008, and this series is for the artist (below) Tah Mac... and his 2nd single cover, "Lavish Lifestyle" which will be out in the U.K & London March 9th 2009. Look out baby! x
Vogue Paris gives model Lara Stone loads of limelight and plenty reasons to bring on the dramatics with an entire VOGUE issue dedicated to her! February 2009 Vogue creates a theatrical inspired environment in which Stone has the ability to show what she's made of. I'm sensing 'flapper-esque gal' influences, a dash of nautical remixing, 1960's and a hint of the 1940's interpretation with this story. This editorial entitled “Lara à Broadway” as Stone portrays a darling Broadway girl. Stunning! The pink fox number is amazing. I did Art Direction & Styling for a similar 'themed' shoot... coincidentally, with the city in the background, with a brown fox back in October 2008. I'll post that next. Too cool!
