Beauty & The Beast

We are nearing election day, and let's just say, it's time to put the beast out of it's misery. lol! Yes, this ad is slightly dated. But who can disagree with it? It's all about relevance here...

And can you guess who I'll be voting for?

Decadently Delicous...

A recent discovery that has me dazzled with lust for all of it's colorful decadence, is by far Clam Magazine. The beauty stories (below) are enticingly euphoric to the eye, with rich composition and artistic vision, literally popping out of the pages! And it's delightful to the last drop...

had to add a touch of editorial to the board...

Star Wars!

Star Wars was the very thing that Louise Goldin stole inspiration from for Spring 2009. Captured from her remote science studies here on this little land called earth. It was her undying love for space, that gave Goldin reason for creating something so absolute. As a knitwear designer, she plays her collection so brilliantly. Using sheer layers that channel white, creme` and ice blue. Her skintight catsuits and dresses exaggerated with broadened shoulders form like an exoskeleton, and might I add, are all knitted. I admire Goldin's bravery to constantly create outside the lines. There's something so bazaar, and astonishing about new age designers. I'm beginning to think, they are taking over... And my studies (below) will show you reasons why.

Once again, Goldin pulls out her magical impact for Spring to penetrate the imagination down to the core. Goldin is confident and explosive in her direction, which gives her such credibility as a design genius. The very last look is my absolute favorite. The waist ruffle is what I'm seeing a lot of London designers showcase for Spring/Summer 2009. Goldin's technique is by far the most inventive I've seen.

Curiousity Killed The Kat

So, what if curiosity really killed the kat? That would give us traces of 80's velour cheetah print bodysuits and super bad 90's outfits worn by the fuggliest hipsters. But wait, take the Southern cheetah craze, mistaken for luxury, and to simultaneously help women gain some kind of groove back. Sad but true. It kind of makes me no longer despise the cheetah signatory 'fad' pieces that just won't disappear! (okay, I'm joking) Now back to Kane and his Spring Kat antics, he somehow reaches again for something so far outside the box people don't quite know how to grasp his vision. Yet, I can't help but follow Christopher, like a trend groupie looking for the next HOT, big thing! But can you blame me?

Sure, maybe Christopher Kane's Spring/Summer 2009 line is right up there with space Odyssey imagination. And slightly prehistoric in his version of couture. Yes, Kane is obviously obsessed with 3-D scales and organza tea leaves, (in the shapes of giant bubbles.) But above all his British innovation can't be denied. Peep these towering platform shoes. Perhaps his intention is to act like a Tyrannosaurus Rex and stomp all over the little fish in his giant pond of inspiration! Whatever it may be, the super-imposing of a modern Flintstones with a touch of George Jetson on the runway, didn't turn out half bad. (Even if it's a bit 2032 from a mainstream perspective.) I ♥ the kat for creating such curiosity in us fashion purveyors.

Yet in Christopher Kane's individual sarcasm, why not crown him 'genius?' I'm all for those that take the uncommon and slightly dogmatic route to reach 'pacesetter' status. He makes me want to mysteriously get my hands on his sketch book. So I can take top secret pictures, and steal a bit of history. Let's just face it, Kane is clearly 10+ light years ahead. And who doesn't love a leader? How can he be denied in all of this storytelling excellence?

Gathering At The Seams...

We like to think of crotch gathering, as a *big* welcome back to the 1980's! (Well most of us that is). I like to say thank you, Chloe` for thinking so carefully about this flashback in a more sophisticated, and less shoulder pad driven kind of way. When I think of 80's jumpsuits, I think of loud prints in cotton candy colors, and too much focus around the thigh region. This collection, however, is a step ahead of the ordinary 80's glorified sportswear approach. It's tasteful, delicate and soft. Showing warm expressions of Peachy keen, Cream, Beaumont, Olive and Bluebell for Spring 2009.

All in all, filled with fashion forward ideas like ruffles for instance, which focus on femininity. A darling collection, represented by British designer Hannah MacGibbon. Affecting my sudden change of heart, and succeeding in helping me re-think my opinion about too much gathering at the seams, in a more amorous kind of way. I'm really stuck on the short pantsuits in black, and the paper-bag waist red leather shorts. A very profound way to strike an award for originator, in contrast the plethora of platform shoes and flowing gowns I've seen Spring/Summer 2009 runway. This one, makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Why, well let's just say, cause it's a trendy and hip way to wear something a step away from couture sportswear. And how about that, for unique?

Gucci ♥ !

Oh Gucci! My ♥ ! yes, it's about that time that I revisit the adoring thing (mentioned in one of my previous blogs.) Well, how could my ♥ for Gucci increase? Let's see, the Spring/Summer 2009 hotness, they call "Gucci Catwalk" offers so many fashion goodies. How could one not nearly collapse from all the inspiration? According to Gucci, it's all about flooding trouser pants and stacked platforms. Gucci is such a trendsetter. The collection is simple, but (as always) elegantly put together. The fierceness awaits! (just scroll down).

The choice of color scheme is super rocking! Who has a favorite? (personally, it's too much for me to choose just one. But if I can pick (5), then we're talking...)

I ♥ the satin dresses with the bowed belt, super HOT! So is the flow of those sexy dresses. I'm pretty certain that any woman shape can pull off the cropped mini floral dresses.) Which have to feel like butter on. Just look at all the movement!

The metallic stacked platforms with the buckled ankle strap are so genius! I love how they're incorporated into the runway looks. Yet, the problem (in my opinion) is these platforms are just too tall, like where are you going to be able to wear them? A photo shoot? To dinner? It's a challenge to look so fly now isn't it?! (*smile*)
